My leg.

I haven't mentioned it, but I've been using crutches since the knee appeared. I still haven't worked up the courage to see a prosthetist. I don't know how I'd explain why the old socket no longer fits.

It's probably just as well I haven't had another one made.

There's part of a lower leg now. Below the knee. It wasn't there before I went back in.

I think my leg is growing back. I've been sitting here trying to find another way to write that.

All my tattoos have disappeared. I checked the places where I could still see faint lines before. Nothing.

The scars are gone too. Even the one on my elbow from falling off my bike on the hill behind our house when I was a kid. I've had that scar for as long as I can remember. I keep running my thumb over where it should be.

I suppose I should be happy about my leg. Mostly I'm afraid to look at it again tomorrow.

In Virgil, the souls drink from Lethe before returning to new bodies. You still remember falling off the bike; it's the mark on your elbow that's gone. Did anyone else see it when it happened? Someone may remember washing the grit out.
