Going through the tapes.
The camera is set up in front of the corridor. I've put a kitchen timer upstairs and set it to ring a few minutes before each tape runs out. Every time it goes off, I go down and change the cassette. I've been writing the date and approximate times on the labels. Three days of tapes already.
I went back into town for a small television and ended up buying a second camcorder, the same model as the first. I need one to play the tapes while the other keeps recording downstairs. It's an expensive way to watch an empty corridor, but I don't want to stop filming now.
The second camera is connected to the television in the kitchen. I've been watching there while I eat. So far I haven't seen anything happen. No movement, and I haven't heard the scraping since I set everything up.
Some stretches look so much like a still picture that I've checked whether I'd pressed pause. Then I'll hear myself shifting on the mattress, or see my arm come into the edge of the frame.
I've got more tapes to go through. I keep wanting to fast-forward, but I'm worried I'll miss something.

I'd write down when the timer rings, as well as the times on the cassette labels. The first minute after a change interests me. You must be moving in and out of the frame before you go back upstairs. Has the scraping happened once while you were still down there?

Can you put a little bit of the video on here? Just a still would do if the file is too big. I'm having trouble picturing where this passage is in relation to the stairs.
